This page describes how dlance actually works today. It isn't legal advice — if you need something binding, please have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer.
1. Information we collect
Account information: your name, mobile number or email, and password (we only ever store it hashed — we can't see it), or your Google account details if you sign in that way.
Identity verification: government ID documents, a selfie holding your ID, legal name, date of birth, business name and registration (for business hirers), payout account details, and any trade certificates you choose to add.
Payment evidence: bank transfer slips you attach when paying into escrow. We don't collect or store card numbers — payments are manual bank transfers that our team verifies.
Location: for on-site jobs, the precise pin you set for the job. We also use your device's general network location, only to help the app find the nearest dlance server automatically.
Content: chat messages, photos and videos you send or upload, portfolio listings, job posts, reviews, and your profile photo.
Device & usage information: a push-notification token so we can deliver alerts, your device type, and activity signals we use to detect fraud — for example, the same ID document number being used across more than one account, or a payout account that doesn't match the verified legal name.
2. How we use it
To verify identities and keep the marketplace trustworthy; to connect Hirers and Freelancers and let you communicate; to process and verify escrow payments; to detect and prevent fraud and duplicate accounts; to send you notifications about messages, offers, and payment status; to respond when you contact support; and to improve the Service.
3. Who we share it with
The other person in a transaction sees your name, rating, and relevant profile information, your chat messages with them, and — only after you hire or are hired — the precise location pin for an on-site job.
Our own review team sees identity verification documents and payment slips, strictly to review and approve them.
Service providers who process data on our behalf: Google Cloud Storage (for photos, documents, and payment slips) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (for push notifications). They can only use your data to provide that service to us.
We may disclose information if required by Lao law or a valid legal process. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or other third parties.
4. How long we keep it
We keep identity verification and payment records for as long as needed to prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations, even after an account is closed. You can ask us to delete other personal information that we're not required to retain — see "Your rights" below.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct anything inaccurate, or delete data we're not legally required to keep. You can close your account yourself at any time from Profile → Close my account in the app — see "How long we keep it" above for what that does and doesn't erase — or ask us to delete it permanently by contacting support. If your account is locked by us rather than closed by you, you'll be told why in-app and can contact support to ask us to review it.
6. Security
Escrow payments are held by dlance rather than sent directly between users. Identity verification documents and payment slips are only accessible to our review team. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and restrict internal access to personal data to what each part of our team actually needs.
7. Children's privacy
dlance is not intended for anyone under 18, and our identity verification checks the age you provide. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
8. Cookies
The dlance website uses only essential, functional cookies — to remember your language choice and to keep the site working correctly. We don't use third-party advertising trackers on the website. The app similarly stores only what's needed to keep you signed in and to receive notifications.
9. International data transfer
Some of our service providers (like our cloud storage) may process data outside Laos. Wherever your data is processed, we require the same level of protection described in this policy.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we'll notify you in-app before it takes effect.
